  • the Pattern of a Kingdom’s Cycle as highlighted by the work of Tim Mahoney of PatternsofEvidence.com

The Backstory ~

AFTER 50+ years in the Word, and bewilderment over the seeming duplication of Chronicles and Kings, the place and times of the various Prophets, I WAS THRILLED to finally make sense of it after a series of events. It began while working my way through the Kings and Chronicles with a Harmony* (see credits). Then when Jeremiah or Isaiah were mentioned, I’d go read that passage.

The next piece of the puzzle was my pastor leading us through the entire Book of Jeremiah. WOW!

The final piece was seeing The Israel Dilemma movie by Tim Mahoney (PatternsOfEvidence.com) which spelled out the cycle we easily see in the Kingdom of David: 1.Kingdom Established, 2. Destroyed after rebellion, 3. Exiled, 4. Persecuted in exile, and 5. Returned. In the movie, Tim presented wonderful archaeological evidences of the Assyrian and Babylonian conquests of Israel and Judah and their return to the land.

AS I BEGAN to condense the Harmony to just references for my own use, I realized I could also insert the Pattern. BUT THEN I realized I didn’t know where the Prophets fit!  So I dug out the information from their introductions and inserted them the best I could for a more complete study experience!

At last, I feel like I can re-construct the events of the time: weak kings, strong kings, God’s intervention, civil war, national deterioration, mass migrations, persecution and return. AND when I look at the placement of the prophets, I can see God’s MANY warnings to turn back, repent, and surrender.
What a joy!

Not a typical MarkUp Discovery Study.

While you may be used to marking key words and passages in MarkUp Studies, this is clearly a reading guide and not a MarkUp-designed study. I recommend picking up a Journaling Bible and take up the challenge of writing your own cross-references, observations and discoveries.
You’ll be SO glad you did!

EPILOGUE: I found it tremendously comforting to see God’s personalized messages and care for Jeremiah, Ebed-melech, and Baruch in the middle of all the “international” chaos and national intrigue of the times. Very comforting.
